I love coming to CIBO. Constantly serving delicious coffee and Kai. Today I had the Hash Benedict with bacon. It was incredible! Great coffee too. Keep up the great work.
My apologies but I am not sure how to react to a comment on here as in the mechanics to do so. Thus I have rewritten a additional comment. I was greatly appreciative of the offer from the owner to contact them regarding my initial review. However I did not as was not after any compensation and prefer to retry. This I did and appreaciate the quality of the coffee I and partner received. It is one of the very best from a Whangarei Cafe so I have changed the initial review critiquing this. Great coffee this time and better as I just turned up and ordered. Excellent beans and taste. -‐-----------‐----- Firstly this used to be an absolute favourite and the Eggs Benedict set the bar. Regular visitors. But I write this as have not returned for 1 year. Why - the Coffee quality. Maybe I had a one off as Coffee in the past was always good. But this time 2 of us ordered Flat Whites one normal and one with Soy Milk due to a tolerance issue for dairy. Asked for double shot (this should be standard but I note its becoming normalised to do a single). Standard always ordered and always great. Both of us tasted and both said the Coffee was thin and near water and no chance this was a double shot even had they reduced the gramage. I returned to the mature Asian barista and apologised but advised we ordered double shot. Told bluntly this was a double shot. Returned to our table, tasted again and left the Coffee and the cafe. Never to return as life is to short to drink bad coffee. It is a dissapointment as had given good review in past based on food. But the Coffee was terrible and to be told directly it was as ordered, there are other options than find out again money wasted. In the last year I wonder if others like myself have stopped frequenting due to the quality of the Coffee as always used to be versus a quick dollar saving on Coffee beans. ☕️ I may have had a bad experience or a new owner. I note others have advised Coffee as excellent as it originally used to be. But to be told flatly the Coffee we had was up to par when we know a good Coffee meant I never went back. Picky, yep but why chance it again as the batista was clear that is how CIBO now served Coffee.
We visited CIBO Cafe in Whangarei for breakfast and was pleased with the friendly service team, who attentively answered our questions and accommodated to my allergies, even during a busy morning. The breakfast was beautifully plated with flowers, adding a touch of elegance to the presentation. The coffee quality was excellent, providing a satisfying start to the day. However, the portion sizes felt a bit small relative to the price paid, which was slightly disappointing. Additionally, it was pretty noisy for a weekday morning, likely due to the bustling atmosphere. Overall, a nice spot with good coffee and attentive staff, but perhaps consider the portion sizes and hours when planning your visit.
Lively cafe with warm yet professional staff, decent prices and fairly good food. It has an outdoor seating veranda and you order at the counter. It is a single room so gets quite loud, but it’s a great spot to stop for breakfast. Excellent coffee and good Wifi. My only criticism would be the cold salsa served with the poached eggs on sourdough. It’s already difficult to keep poached eggs warm - you do want something like a salsa with a bit of acid and sweet to compliment the eggs, but being ice cold it’s just really unpleasant to attempt. A small bowl of homemade beans, roast tomato or even the heated salsa would have been a nice addition.
