We went there as a group of five on a Saturday, fully expecting it to be packed and hard to navigate. Thankfully, the space is much larger than we anticipated, and we were able to find seating and parking without any stress. That already set a really positive tone for the visit.
The atmosphere is truly something special. The design of the entire place, especially the courtyard, is so impressive and thoughtfully done. It feels warm, inviting, and beautifully curated. I could not stop admiring and capturing all the little details that made the space feel unique and intentional.
As for the food, we were extremely satisfied with everything we ordered. The mushroom toast was full of flavour and perfectly balanced, and the kumara stack was just as impressive, both in taste and presentation. You can tell care goes into both the ingredients and the execution.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Great space, great food, and a relaxed but lively atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place

Fabulous place! We spent a few days in Mangawhai over the holidays and stopped at Bennett’s Café for breakfast on our way back to Auckland. The place was buzzing with a great atmosphere. The food and service were excellent, and we thought the prices were very reasonable. We also loved being able to watch the chocolate being made. This all made for a fun experience. We also appreciated the cafe having tables outside in front which were dog friendly.
We had eggs benedict and eggs on toast with bacon. Both were excellent and the coffee was nice and smooth - delicious!
Thank you to Bennett's Cafe! We will stop by again when we're in the area.

Located next to the Bennetts Chocolate Shop. They have freshly cooked breakfast and lunch on the menu, as well as some cabinet food. We ordered a Wagyu Beef Burger, Smashed Avo and Kid's Omelet. As well as the Seafood Pasta and some sides. It's best to find a table and then go up and order as it can be busy in the weekends

This is one of the laziest and worst Eggs Benedict that I’ve had for a long time. The audacity to put a fistful of raw undressed baby spinach on the plate and call it a day! There has never been a moment in my life where I’ve thought to myself, you know what I could eat a whole cup of right now - raw baby spinach!
The English muffins are nothing special and it is actually ludicrous considering they have a bakery right there. The hollandaise is uninspiring. This dish screams of a chef with no joy. Eggs Benedict is a cafe staple here in Aotearoa and you shouldn’t be able to go this wrong with it, turning it into a crime against food. I could have whipped this up myself in 5 minutes at home! Definitely not worth dining out and spending money on, and I wouldn’t recommend this as a food destination for anyone visiting Mangawhai.
Also, there is only counter service, not table service which is crazy for the size of the place. The staff were friendly in the brief interactions I had with them.
The menu needs a serious edit and the format of the menu needs redesigning.
A beautiful building and cafe that are sadly not reaching their potential.

Our favourite place for breakfast in Mangawhai, consistently great food and quality. We love all the cabinet food and tried almost everything in the last couple of years. Also, great coffee and true hot chocolate. Love the extension for the bakery. Bennetts is definitely a destination for its chocolate factory, bakery and cafe.
